Baptism
In the Uniting Church the majority of those baptised are little children, brought by their parents who want them to grow up in the Christian faith. However, baptism can happen at any age. Teenagers and adults are baptised after a period of teaching, formation and reflection about the Christian faith and what joining the Church involves. If you are not baptised and have questions about the Christian faith, you can join an enquirers’ group where you can ask some of the big questions …
- How do we know God?
- Why is Jesus’ death important?
- What is the purpose of life?
- What is Christian discipleship?
- Why do people die?
- What happens after death?
If you are an adult and want to know more about the Christian faith or want to explore the possibility of baptism or Confirmation, please contact the minister through the church office on 5721 6555.

Wedding Enquiries
We would be pleased to receive your enquiries about the possibility of celebrating your marriage at Uniting Church Wangaratta and cluster churches.
Please remember to make sure the date and time of your wedding ceremony is confirmed prior to finalising arrangements for the reception.
The Christian celebration of marriage is an act of worship, an expression of the Church’s offering of the whole of life to God. It is a pastoral occasion in which the community of faith shares in the joy of bridegroom and bride; it is an evangelical occasion in which all those who have come to witness the marriage may be challenged by the implications of the Christian faith.
Normally a marriage is to be celebrated in a church building. In some circumstances, at the discretion of the minister, a marriage may be celebrated in a place other than a church.
Care should be taken that the suggested venue will not detract from the solemnity of the occasion.
Funerals
The Christian recognition of death is a part of the Church’s offering of the whole of life to God, and the funeral service is a time to worship God, celebrating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ in witness to the faithfulness of God in life and death.
A funeral service gives thanks for a specific person’s life and mourn that person’s death; and to dispose reverently of the body and to witnesses to the reality of death, and to the fact that death is a basic part of our common humanity that all must face.
We would be pleased to receive your inquiry relating to a funeral service at Uniting Church Wangaratta.
If you are struggling with the loss of someone who has been close to you, you may contact our church office to speak to the minister on 57216555.
